Daily Inspiration – Water

It’s been raining for some days in New York, not much but there’s water everywhere. And it got me thinking about underwater photography, I always wanted to try it, even if it’s only putting a doll inside a bowl. But you always have the problem of the glass between the camera and the subject.

So I was doing some reasearch and I found a couple of great underwater photography.

The First series is from one of the most elaborate sets in the world, British film production company Pinewood Studio where they capture breathtaking shots in a tank filled with 1.2 million liters (317,000 gallons) of water. The underwater stage, which opened in 2005, has been used for a huge number of TV commercials, music videos and films, including The Bourne Ultimatum, Atonement, Elizabeth and Casino Royale.

Of course not much people has a huge tank of water, then is when you need to protect your camera and dive in the water with your model. This is when THOMAS TUKKER decide to jump into a pool for this series.

And when you don’t even have a model that will like to dive in a pool with you, the ocean it’s always a great resource of unexpected subjects to photograph. An Alexander Safonov is great with them.
