Daily Inspiration – People

Portraits, they seem really easy sometimes and mostly photographers only concentrates on the light, the background, edit, etc An if you are a Fashion photographer is so usually to see photos where the model has the same expression over and over again, because the most important thing are the clothes right?
Well yes, but a portrait is much more than Fashion or lighting, and when i found those pictures of Håkon Borg, I thought I should share them.

They are powerful, not for the colours or for the light, despite the fact that he use a good lighting; they are powerful for the expression of each subject. It’s unique and real, and I like that.

Daily Inspiration – Water

It’s been raining for some days in New York, not much but there’s water everywhere. And it got me thinking about underwater photography, I always wanted to try it, even if it’s only putting a doll inside a bowl. But you always have the problem of the glass between the camera and the subject.

So I was doing some reasearch and I found a couple of great underwater photography.

The First series is from one of the most elaborate sets in the world, British film production company Pinewood Studio where they capture breathtaking shots in a tank filled with 1.2 million liters (317,000 gallons) of water. The underwater stage, which opened in 2005, has been used for a huge number of TV commercials, music videos and films, including The Bourne Ultimatum, Atonement, Elizabeth and Casino Royale.

Vogue.com

I use to buy a couple of Fashion magazines a month to look over articles and specially the photography, the editorials, famous photographers as Steve Meisel or Mario Testino, etc

But here I found that the magazines where sometimes too expensive, around $8 each, and that I have no space at the apartment where to left them or their pictures. In Barcelona I have all of them safe and ordered and the best pictures hanging on my wall.

That’s why I started being a fan of  Vogue.com, especially Vogue.com/magazine. You can find videos of the shootings, slideshow with the best images, articles, etc

I would recommend to spend at least ten minutes if you have them, is worth it.

My favorites this week are: (the links of the images goes to the slideshow where you can find all the pictures)

Anne Hathaway

There’s a good behind the scene video if anyone is curious. http://www.vogue.com/videos/anne-hathaway/

Reese Witherspoon for Vogue

For the May 2011 issue of Vogue, photographer Peter Lindbergh pulled out all the stops, bringing one of today’s biggest modern day movie stars to the circus!

Promoting her new movie, Water for Elephants where Reese acts with Robert Pattinson.

Mix Reese Witherspoon, Dolce&Gabbana dresses, Peter Lindbergh and an elephant and you that’s what you are getting: beautiful pictures of Resse where in most of them the elephant seems more comfortable than her. Must be the shoes.

Although the light and the colors of the images are not that bad, Peter Lindbergh always makes a good job with lights.

100 minimalism ads

I’ve been seeing logos, packages, flyers, etc go minimalism. Now is the time for ads too.

A minimalism ad is concrete and gets to the idea really quickly, and mostly of the time they look really good too. But when you have to create them, is one of the most difficult ones. Because you have to focus in one principal idea and have to find something, and image, a word that reflects that idea and you cannot use anything else.

I’m trying to create an ad for magnetiKmania so I was looking for some inspiration when I found these:

Let’s hope they help you if you ever need inspiration.
